Kharge stated, "If Anurag Thakur can prove that he or any member of his family possesses even 1 inch of Waqf Board land, then I will resign from the position of Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha."
Earlier, the Wakf Amendment Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday following 12 hours of discussion. A total of 520 MPs participated in the voting, which occurred at 2 am. Of those, 288 voted in favour, while 232 voted against it. Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has named the initiative Umeed (Unified Waqf Management Empowerment, Efficiency and Development). This bill is set to be introduced in the Rajya Sabha today.
